Spring Is Here!
Did it really take only two weeks to go from Winter to Spring? Sometimes it is like that in this part of the world! One day it is snowing and the next the sun is shining so strongly that the snow just evaporates! And suddenly the tiny flowers are blooming in the sunny corners... and it is Time to clear off last year's dead remains and let the Garden Season Begin!
Last year the Season began so early that I didn't have time to prune my Roses...
so this year they have been given a serious cutting back!
The pile by the gate is the evidence....
I LOVE the way the Garden looks at this time of the year....
so bare and flat .... only the skeletons of the plants showing....
But when you get up close .... that ground that looks so bare....
is really bursting with the new growth!
Bleeding Heart erupting from the dead leaves.....
Tulips poking through the moss.....
The intricately pleated Lady's Mantle unfolding it's leaves.....
Primrose sending up new growth.....
And the Iris shooting forth....
The veriest Tips of the Peonies..... so Red!
And you must look carefully to see the Phlox poking through!
The Daffodils will be blooming in no Time!
And the Narcissus too.....
And soon the Vinca will be covered in bloom.....
But for now.... it is the Crocus that steal the Show!
The first to arrive in my Garden each year.....
Tucked into the corners....
Glowing in the sunlight.....
Tiny bursts of Joy!
Celebrating the New Life....
But I am Impatient....
I must plant the planters full of potted pansies brought home from the Nursery...
The sweet little Johnny Jump-ups are my Favorite!!
I keep hoping they will begin to self seed in the cracks of the paving.....
And their bigger Cousins... the Pansies....
in all their varied colors....
This morning were glistening from last night's rain......
And I was late to work because I had to stop and Worship Every one....
The closely furled Crocus......
And Mr. Pickwick too.... spangled with the raindrops....
So Cheerful in the morning sun!
Ah, Yes! The Garden Season Truly has Begun!
Welcome to my Garden!
